They have low margins and limits, so over time they've become less and less interesting to many people. Generally only worth doing if you have multiple accounts and can find a decent margin.

So I'm fairly new to this merching concept and I've been looking through the logs and not seeing a lot of these being flipped. just curious on everyone's thoughts on flipping these.

So i've played RS off and on since the beginning and created a new account recently with my wife. I recently got deployed across the pond and have some spare time to play and looked into marching a few months back with no success. so yesterday I got back into merching with a little bit of success decided to buy VIP. I currently have 10 mil to work with but hooping to increase that in-between my 12 hour shifts. Ive got the basic concepts of flipping and investing but always open to advice and suggestions. I look forward to joining the community!

Hey there, all!

I'm a new member to these forums, and to merching in general. I used to merch here and there on the side in an effort to learn more about the craft, however sometimes it can be difficult to teach yourself. I managed to acquire some knowledge, but I am no where close to where I want to be at this point! Hopefully this community will be able to help a rookie out, haha!

If you've read my introduction, which I doubt you have, you'll know that I'm more of a "flipper" as opposed to an investor. The whole idea of pouring money into an item and selling it weeks later scares the heck out of me! Probably because my cash stack, at ~70M, is very small still. Anyway, point is that I know more about flipping than I do about investing. Please try to keep that in mind when replying!

Here's a list of questions I have as of now; In the future I'm sure it will grow, haha.

1. Is F2P merching a viable source of income?
- So, I haven't played Runescape in some several years and therefore am not P2P. I am 100% willing to reactivate my membership, however I wanted to ask the opinion of others first. The reason I ask is because my cash stack is small, my knowledge is limited to basic flips, and my experience is little. I know that for a seasoned merchant, it would be doable, however is it even worth my time to try? Or am I better of buying a membership/bond and working with that? I'm more interested in the learning experience rather than money.

2. How do you flip low buy limit items?
- When I say this, I'm talking about Bandos gear and treasure trail rewards, stuff like that. Do you PC it yourself or are you better off joining a friends chat that has a PCer who will do so for you? Do you even PC it? I've seen some of the margins on Merchz logs from members. Are their buy/sell prices something that they estimated with prior knowledge / experience rather than actually PCing it?

3. Is the "Live prices" section of the forums more for investments rather than flipping?
- I'm trying to ease into this slowly. For now, I plan to stick to what I know and flip a multitude of items to get more familiar with what's good nowadays before attempting investments. I've debated purchasing VIP status on this site, however I want to know if it's good for flipping or more for investment purposes?

4. Is it best to flip stable, falling, or rising items?
- So one of the biggest issues I've had is with picking items, obviously. Back when I used to play I was super familiar with everything that was a must have. Now a lot has changed, so I'm trying to get back into the swing of things. The margins on falling/rising items, in my experience, have been amazing, but I have been reluctant to attempt flips with them just because of past experience. Most of the time I buy them for super low and end up never selling them for higher than my buy price. Is that something that's normal? Or am I doing something wrong here?

I have a few more questions, but I'll save them for later as not to crowd this post. Looking forward to any and all replies!

I think it's due to the items you are choosing, and more people flipping in general. Food, or any other very common raw material is a pain to flip, as you've found out. I used to flip raw materials, but it became so painful and started to have little reward.

There are a lot of players who try to buy and flip these items at a decently fast pace, which it may sound like you're doing too since it said the item was good for 35 minutes. For whatever reason, people seem to think they need to sell it as fast as possible once they buy it, so they keep changing margins every few minutes. Instead, let it sit. Give it 2 hours or the full 4 hour buy limit if you wish. If it doesn't move at all in an 1hr-1.5hr time span, then you can decrease the price.

I finally broke away from the active flipping of raw materials. If I do any flipping, it will be inactive stuff where I leave for several hours or sell things while I sleep. 95% of the time, my items have sold by time I come back. Now I much prefer to do short term investing or long term investing. I've had much more success with this and when an item is in a rising state, it makes it very easy to sell, and avoids constantly messing with margins.

I'm lacking motivation to continue to merch my way back up from what is now a 22M cash stack...If you guys have any items you could possibly recommend me to flip, and i know you guys don't let others onto precious items but seriously, it would be much appreciated.

23M is still a decent amount to flip with. Try doing t85 weapons (Cywir wand, Glaives, Blades - 2 buy limit) GWD Gear (Bandos, Subj, Armadyl - 1 buy limit). They usually have decent margins (100-600k each flip) if you can stretch them and Flipchat1 price checks them actively if you need a list of items with up to date prices.

Hi Snake

1) You could learn about items on the runescape wiki, though I think it'll help you to just become a member and start playing the game. Learn about which items people use for what, what the best training methods are, etc.

2) We don't record this, just the time of upload (below the picture), because most people won't remember both of those anyways and it just makes uploading more tedious.

You know, I've seen 2146 begging and she only ever asks if anyone can straight give her any money. What made you think you were going to get anything back?
